May 2, 2011: Wow...One Great Week

Fam,
I can´t even tell you how INCREDIBLY happy I am to read your letters. It seriously brightens my whole day. And guess what! I get to talk to you all on Sunday!!! I forgot to mention it earlier, but it´s Mother´s Day so I get to call! I can´t believe how fast time has flown since talking to you all last. So much has happened in every way since then and I am excited to talk to you all about it. I am not sure how it´s all going to work right now, so I hope you will be hearing from me between now and Sunday to make plans for the call. If you could send me the number I should call, I don´t know if the numbers have changed since the last time because you had just moved from D.C....So let me know. I am so happy I get to talk to you all and wish Mom a Happy Mother´s Day and Jake a Happy Birthday!! Wahoo!! Oh, and other fun news, I found out that I come home a year from today....May 2, 2012 baby! Wow, time is flying fast. Oh, and sad news, sorry mom and dad, you can´t come pick me up anymore. The rules have changed that no one can pick up their missionaries from their missions...at least here (tear....).
Well let me tell you about this week. It was a good one. Well, acutally, we spent a lot of time helping sick Elders this week and so we didn´t have very much time in our sector. But you know what, I love being the nurse and helping the missionaries get back on their feet so they can keep preachin the gospel. It makes me very happy. My favorite call of recent was when an Elder called and after a LONG moment of silence, he said, "Hermana, this is going to be good....". His problem was nothing serious but I was preparing for the worst and I may, or may not, have been sweating a little. Oh, good times.
But the best news of all is that Maria Isabel and Lenyn were baptized on Saturday!!!! Wahoo!!!!!! You have no idea how happy Hermana Mairena and I were. It was such a beautiful service and we sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic (of Ecuador...hehe)" with her and she sang a solo in it. It is her favorite song and she always asks us to sing it with her when we teach her. Everyone loved it and were so impressed with her lovely voice. It was such a great day and I feel so blessed that I was apart of it. But thanks to Hermana y Hermano Moran for their referral because they are the ones who told us she wanted to talk to the missionaries and now she has changed her life and is so happy! She even looks different....like she´s at peace with her life now.
Hermana Mairena and I are having a lot of fun together and she has become such a great friend for me. I count on her for everything and we are really enjoying our part of the mission together. We are learning new things everyday and seeing miracles happen within things in the office. Honestly, Heavenly Father watches over His missionaries and wants them healthy and we feel like he is helping us know how to help them.
I am so happy and I am so grateful to be here. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and we can know it through the Holy Ghost. We can feel at peace inside even though everything around us may be falling apart. I firmly believe this. If we are living the commandments and seeking after Christ, we will feel the "rest of the Lord". I love you all and thank you for your grand support to me. I feel like the luckiest person in the world.

Always,
H. Salmon

P.S. I think I will sleep a little easier tonight to know that old Bin Laden is resting in his grave.
